Happy 6th Birthday to our nephew, Zane!

 

Our adoption seems to be in sleep mode. We are still having to jump a few more hurdles before we can get an approved homestudy. If you know much about adoption, you know that the homestudy is a very vital part of the process. We can't get our referral, apply for grants or much else until the homestudy is complete.

Our homestudy with Van went pretty quick, but there were other bumps, like the wait. His adoption was more stressful by far, but this one's not over yet. It took 22 mos. from start to finish with Van, but I would do it all over again.

 

I spent a good portion of my day updating grant applications, some of them were prepared in December. I hope not to have to update them again. We found some training classes that I think will suit our homestudy agency. We'll probably be taking, " Adopting the Older Child," and "Ain't Misbehavin..."

Tonight we're going with some friends to the Fairgrounds to see the tractor show. Race has his next to the last basketball game tomorrow morning. Tomorrow night we're going to try out Iroquois Pizza with our community group.

 

Van is sporting his, "bike noggles." He was so cute I had to take his picture. He said, "Pwease don't put it on the bwog."

Adoption Update:
We are still in the midst of finalizing our homestudy. We found out that we are required to have 5 additional hours of training in the field of discipline, ESL and/or common issues with adopting an older child.

It's nice that we have adopted before and know to expect the unexpected, but it doesn't make it any easier. There are still 2 boys available on the waiting child list,3 year old "W" and 8 year old "T." We would not be able to get both of these boys because if we adopt unrelated children they have to been within 3 years of age of each other. The 3 year old was originally listed as special needs, because of a positive Hep. C test. He was later tested with the ELISA test and tested negative and taken off of the special needs list. He has been put back on the list because he needs a third test to verify that he is negative and this can't be done in Ethiopia.

We are pressing on, but it's easy to lose your zeal when it gets so tedious.

Adoption Update: We are still waiting on a finalized homestudy that will satisfy our adoption agency.
