Super Hero

 

Van's big brother made these super hero glasses and decided to see what Van would look like with them on. We took Van back to the doctor today to get the remainer of him immunizations. We will go back to the doctor on Friday just to follow up on a minor concern.

Race's basketball game was exciting this morning, another tie 26 to 26. Van and Keith are napping, it's too cold to do anything outside.

The first two photos are from a few days ago. Race had a fun time playing snowball fight with some of the other kids. Most kids had a two hour delay, so Race thought he deserved one also. Van likes to walk in the snow, but doesn't want to touch it. Van wasn't too happy in his photo, because I was about to take him inside. The last photo is of the boys in their SpiderMan outfits. Van goes to the doctor tomorrow to finish up some immunizations and he also has a rash that needs looking at.

Common Site

 

This was a common site in many businesses. The smell of incense lingered in the lobby of our hotel at times. There were Pagodas/Temples (I think that's what they were called) it seemed like on every other street. Once again the smell of incense would let you know that a temple was near. Outside of these temples you could buy little trinkets to burn or leave behind in the temple as a token I guess. Every few days we noticed different fruits in front of the little Buddha statue in our Hotel. While in Hanoi we walked down a street that sold only Buddha related items, this was about 30 shops if I had to guess, how sad is this?

Basketball Star-
Our oldest son made 6 points in his basketball game this morning. The final scored ended up being 14 to 14. We had a fun time watching the game.

A Reunion of the Sort

 

This photo was taken outside of a Chinese restaurant in Alabama. We were able to meet up with a couple that adopted an 8 year old from Van's orphanage. We met this couple in person for the first time in Vietnam, what a long way to go to meet someone from the states, huh? We had a nice visit, the kids were able to play at the park and then we headed out for some Chinese or "Vietnam Eat" as Noah, their 8 year old son calls it. The visit was short, but we were glad that we could meet up and talk some.

Eyes and Tongue

 

 

 

Van is showing us where his eyes and tongue are at. He was out in Granny's yard playing around this day while brother and daddy were fishing. He has picked up a few more signs and doing well, he is also trying to say a few new words. We hope to teach Van some more words and signs so he can communicate without yelling.

Home from GA

 

 

We had a nice visit with our families. The weather was really nice, I was dreading the trip home knowing that the weather is yucky in KY right now. The boys had a really nice time. Van was welcomed by new friends and family members that he hadn't met yet. Race had fun with his cousins. Race and Keith went fishing a few times. Race and his cousin wanted to catch the albino catfish in Poppy's pond but didn't suceed this time. We are trying to get back on schedule. We were able to meet with our friends in AL and see how their adopted 8 year old was doing.

Here are a few shots of Ho Chi Minh City.

Van is picking up on a few more things, he can show you his tongue and point out his ears, etc. He was ready to get his bath tonight, so he went in to the bathroom alone and shut the door. We hurried to get the door open because he has been known to try to climb over the tub, not to mention play in the toilet. He was rubbing his chest and stomach letting us know that he was ready to bathe. On the way in the door from town Van stopped and looked down at the snow/ice trying to figure out what it was. I was waiting for him to grab a handful and put it in his mouth, but he didn't
