Cumberland Falls

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We left Cherokee and started heading toward home. We initally were going to go to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, but decided we'd save that for another trip. We stopped off at Cumberland Falls and had planned to stay overnight until we got there. It was out in the middle of nowhere and you weren't allowed to wade or swim. That was the minus for me, if there's water , I want to get wet, not just look at it.

Unto These Hills

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our last night in Cherokee, we went to see a drama called, "Unto These Hills." We enjoyed the program, but thought it was odd that white people played some of the Indian parts. We enjoyed chatting with the couples sitting next to us.

After we left the cabin in Cherry Log, GA we stopped at a little town called, Dillsboro, NC and walked around the town and visited a few shops. Then, we headed to Cherokee for two nights. We were a little disappointed to see a brand new casino there. We spent one afternoon walking around the town and visiting some shops, which all seemed to have the same stuff in them. The next day we got a little adventurous and bought floats and went tubing. The water was extremely cold and very shallow in some spots. We tubed for about an hour on our first trip down and we enjoyed it so much, we decided to do it again. Well, the second time around wasn't as fun. My tube headed toward a stump that was hanging over the bank. I put my feet on the stump and tried to kick off of it, but when I did, I went under and hit my head on a rock, so needless to say, I was ready to call it a day.

We started our vacation by meeting Keith's parents and sister and her son at a cabin in Cherry Log, GA. We mostly hung out at the cabin, but we do go to the lake one day for a little fishing and swimming.

Otter Creek

 

 

We started out for Otter Creek again and finally made it there with no mishaps around noon. We had a nice picnic, went on a short hike and went tubing. We had a great time!

 

 

We started out for Otter Creek this morning about 10 a.m., but were delayed by a hit and run accident. As if Nasty (our car) didn't have enough physical ailments (missing door handles, chipped paint & ripped seats), she now has a door that will not shut as of yet. Keith and his handy dandy tools (pliers and a sledge hammer) are going to try to get her door to stay shut. We are thankful no one was hurt. Someone was able to get the license plate of the other car, so we'll see what comes of it, but I doubt they have insurance and we only have liability.
